Shipwrecked (C64)
A downloadable game
About
You are the commander of a crew of eight astronauts on their journey to Mars. The mission goal is to establish a bridgehead for further colonization and performing scientific experiments.
The mission duration on Mars itself is scheduled for about two years. A few unmanned ships have been sent before, transporting a habitat and basic infrastructure to a carefully selected landing spot.
Although most of the equipment is already on Mars, valuable cargo space has been filled with emergency equipment in case the landing capsule does not arrive at its exact destination...
This game is a complex puzzle where you must consider many dependencies while planning your actions from a wide range of possibilities to ensure the survival of your crew.
There are multiple solutions, and every element in this game has at least one purpose. Sometimes the purpose is obvious, sometimes you have to pay attention to details.
Technical Requirements
Shipwrecked is a game created for the C64. It can be played on real hardware or in an emulator like Vice.
The whole game is played with a joystick in port #2 and is PAL and NTSC compatible.
To save a game, you need a disk in a disk drive with number 8. When playing in Vice, you have to attach a disk image and set drive settings to ‘true drive emulation’. There is only one save-game file.
Where to get it?
You can download a digital version of the game and a manual here for free (see downloads below).
The game is published as a boxed vesion by Komoda & Amiga plus magazine along with another of our games, Devolution: Eternal Winter. The box contains a printed manual and other extras.

I played a number of times and once i got the option to build a greenhouse for food. What triggers this ability?
The option is always available. You need someone with the right skill and some parts from the wreck. You are told whats needed when choosing the task (craft + detail = greenhouse). You also need at least one free energy slot (recover a solar collector) to activate it.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Which character has the skill? I really dont see it as an option to even select and i only ever saw the option once. I used saved states with pre selected parties for most of my plays.
Questions.
Can the ship be prevented from falling in the canyon, or just try to get as much stuff before it does?
Can you heal a character if you only have one medic and that character has an injury?
How do you recover the rover you find on the map, which i assume has at least one battery which would be used to explore the rest of the planet?
Can you prevent your characters getting injured or this appears to be a slightly random event throughout the game?
This game plays much more like a puzzle, in that you have to do things specifically, at certain points or you wont get far. Its not a strategy game, and that is completely fine. I actually had an idea for something similar to this for a game i want to create eventually.
I plan to do a longplay of this for my channel if i can get some answers to the above from you :D
Goto task menu, select craft and then alter the task details to see what you can craft.
The ship always falls. Everyone can cure injuries, but that might hurt. A mechanic is a good choice to fill the second seat when inspecting the rover. Injuries cannot be prevented.
The puzzle part is to figure out what to do. The strategy part is to optimize the order of what you do. Finishing the game is not the only challenge as you might see later. Good luck :-)
Thanks for that. So i select tasks, scroll down to task then i get these options
Build Shelter (12 days) Craft Water Pump (8 days), Research Geology (8 days), Assist Max (infinite days), Meditate (4 days), Seek Shelter (0 days), Activity None, Then loops back to first entry. Am i in the wrong menu? I have just tried with 3 different parties. So im not even given an option to build it, though i did see it once in one of my plays.
Also, it appears after 50 radiation damage the characters start to take damage. Is it possible to reverse this damage?
Aaagh, forget where i asked about the greenhouse above. I found it in detail below task... Silly me!
Very good game and am happy someone with coding skill made this natively for the C64. It reminds me a bit of 'reunion' i played back in the day as well as a recent game on the PC, forgot the name, but was basically about 12 or so characters in the Siberian wilderness scavenging to stay alive. The gameplay and layout is surprisingly very similar to this game.
Finished it twice, but got zero stars (once I didn't even saved the rover on time). It gets easier when some of the crew is died. Would be nice to know why is the game over occurs, what the mediation task or the "talk to" does, reduces insanity maybe? Also who pushing my crew to the ground? Arresting doesn't seem to solve the intended damaging. Researching gives you more bonus points at the end I suppose. What about these items: Survival backback, teddy bear, corpse; retrieving them makes no visible effect.
You get stars for certain exceptionel archivments. Losing crew members is not helpful :-) What do you mean with game over? "Talk to" improves mental health. SInce you can't produce oxygen, meditation is the only way to reduce consumption to build a stock necessary for expeditions. When strange things heappens check the mental health of your crew members. When somebody is in the last two states, strange things may happen. Arresting prevents someone with very low mental health from doing stupid things. Check you supplies after picking up the backpacks. Check the crew mental health after picking up the personal items. What the corpse is good for you might find out in the end :-)
I got several Game Over screens but most of the time I had no clue why I was lost.
So Meditation saves o2? Interesting...
The game is over when the commander dies.
Sarah makes me question my own sanity as she is blinking ocassionally
A very spooky bug :-D
You make the most fun and unique strategy games on the Commodore 64, and I love it!
Thank you :-)
very good
Thank you! Shipwrecked (2025, Windigo Productions)
