Deathflood: Curse of Oak Island (C64)
A downloadable game
People say that there is a pirate treasure buried beneath the surface of Oak Island.
Some say it is protected by an insidious trap...
For centuries, stories have circulated about a huge pirate treasure buried on Oak Island.
Treasure hunters discovered an artificial shaft on the island. But all attempts to dig up the treasure failed, as the shaft is apparently secured with a deadly flood trap.
To this day, no one has reached the bottom of the shaft, and some even paid for the attempt with their lives..

Great! I finally managed to do a longplay of it. I think I got all the coins this time ;-)
Truly impressive! I was pretty sure that it wasn't possible to collect all the coins in certain levels. You've proven me wrong. It was a pleasure to watch the longplay :-)
I thought this game was OK, 3/5, maybe 3.5/5. It's worth playing. I see what the developers had in mind with the control scheme, but I really didn't like it. In the end, I did get used to the controls, but I didn't find it fun. I found it clunky. The graphics and sound are fantastic. They really elevate what, for me, is a mechanically flawed game. Someone else commented that a save game or password feature would be useful. One of the developers responded saying the game is easy to complete once you know how, so that wouldn't suit the game. I think that developer is underestimating how difficult the game is, as well as how much time most people are willing to invest in playing through such a game. It seems easy to you because you made it! Of course you're naturally going to find it easy! Goodness, I can't understand why you wouldn't make it more accessible to modern players who don't want to spend hours starting over and over from the beginning. In the end, I just played it with save states, and this made it much more palatable. Also, the writing is serviceable, and it's a fun story, so don't get me wrong, but I honestly do think it would have benefited from having a native English writer on the team. All in all, an OK game that, just in my opinion, could have been a lot better with modern controls and a save game feature. Lots of passion has definitely gone into it, and the graphics and sound (Bayliss, of course!) are fantastic, so it's definitely worth playing.
Thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed review. If we develop another game of this type, I will try to incorporate your suggestions. Regarding the controls, could you describe in more detail what bothered you or what you mean by "modern controls"? And regarding your point about the "native writer": Sure, if anyone is interested in volunteering, please get in touch. Since we don't make any money from the games, all we can offer is a line in the credits. Just contact us via the email address on our website.
Great game, I love that underwater sound effect. I've also included it in my new video along with other recently released games. Hope you like it.
Great video, thanks :-)
Excellent game with lovely, detailed hi-res graphics and good playability. A password or save option would have been nice. Our German-language review can be found at 01:28:33. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed it :-) However, I don't think a password system/save option suits the game. Once you figure it out, you can finish it quickly. Then the challenge becomes collecting the right number of coins.
Fantastic game for the C64 that personally reminds me of the classic 1985 film The Goonies as well as the game of the same name mainly for NES and C64.Great music, graphics and awesome gameplay that combined with the existing story create an excellent game.
My Longplay and i hope to see Curse of Oak Island II someday.
Congratulations on the best ending! 82 coins is a truly impressive result. And thanks for the feedback - I have a few ideas for future episodes, we'll see :-)
Thank you for this - very good ! Please see my tribute...
Very nice video, it was fun to watch, thank you :)

Really enjoying the game. The backstory gives it a lot of depth. The game play mechanics are fun and well thought out. Really evokes the sense of fun and wonder that I loved about the original C64. Takes me back to the good old days. Thank you!

Thank you! :-) Deathflood – Curse of Oak Island (2025, Windigo Productions)
Thanks for the article!
I am a huge fan of the oak island tv show. I think, this game is a little bit inspired of it. ;-) I'm looking forward to playing it.
The basic inspiration actually came from a book called Riptide, which I read 20 years ago. But I also watched the documentary series for a few seasons later on :-)
Awesome game!
Thank you! Very nice playthrough of the tutorial :-)
